Festival of Lights Berlin 2026

synopsis: A hand paints a giant wave across the Oberbaum Bridge and then dives into the painted world itself. Finger by finger, it transforms into a surfer riding a wave, a fish gliding through the water, a crocodile leaping out of it. Small gestures become great transformations. A single hand creates an entire world – like a fantastical shadow play.

Spanning directly across the Spree, the historic Oberbaum Bridge not only connects two of Berlin’s vibrant trendy districts, but also sets a glowing symbol for love, creativity, and diversity under the theme “Colours of Love.” The striking red-brick architecture with its characteristic towers becomes a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow, vivid animations, and innovative art that bathes the waters of the Spree in a romantic sea of lights.
